Service Learning

Service learning is an active and experiential learning strategy where students have a direct impact on an identified need that interests and motivates them. Service learning requires active participation in structured teamwork. Each member is assigned a team role, including:

Facilitator (The facilitator leads team discussions to identify needs and prepare service learning activities.)
Recorder (The recorder takes notes for the team and organizes information.)
Reporter (The reporter represents the team voice and reports team findings.)
Timekeeper (The timekeeper keeps track of time and plans the schedule.)
Debriefer (The debriefer encourages team members and leads discussion after presentation.)
Cadet teams should determine, plan, and execute service-learning activities with the aid of their instructor.

The annual Military Ball is a formal affair where cadets can enjoy an evening of dinner, dancing, and seniors are recognized for their years of participation within the JROTC Program. Each LET level can run for their respective position in court and the seniors give a speech to the LET 1s- 3s.

Christmas Party

Every year, JROTC hosts a Christmas Party before going into Winter Break! The goal is to appreciate our cadets and send them off feeling rewarded for their efforts and contribution to the program by allowing them to spend an afternoon with food, music, activities, and joy!

Letterman Jacket and Awards Ceremony

Did you know our cadets are the only ones in Northside High School who are allowed to receive a JROTC BLACK Letterman jacket for FREE? (Of course only after completing the requirements found on our social media) It is always a symbol of accomplishment and pride to be awarded such jacket after hard work.

Cadet Challenge

Our famous fitness activity! The Cadet Challenge is an event that takes place every year that assesses the physical fitness of our cadets. The assessment consists of a push-up challenge, a V-sit reach, Curl-Ups, shuttle runs, and concludes with a timed mile race. This activity takes place every spring to test and improve our cadet's fitness and health!

Field Day

Our JROTC program is able to actually have our own field day on the last day of school to show cadets how proud we are of there accomplishments through out the whole year. Making it free of any cost just for cadets to enjoy their last day with fellow cadets having the most fun.
